ABOUT PANRUTI



    PANRUTI is a taluk headquarters in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. PANRUTI is located in Tanjore - Chennai NH and well connected with all parts of the state. PANRUTI is in the banks of the River Kedilam flows through the town.

    The name PANRUTI evolved from 'pannargal' (a word for people who created music  in ancient times).   The creators of various 'panns' were also titled as 'pannar'.
   PANRUTI produces cashews, jackfruit, and many vegetables. PANRUTI plays a major role in the cashew export business, exporting to Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, and the United States. It is known for its   famous international jackfruit market, from where jackfruit is exported to many other countries. It is  also a commercial center of Cuddalore district. People from all over Cuddalore district come to PANRUTI  to purchase groceries and fresh vegetables.

   The Neyveli Lignite Corporation(NLC) is located 21 km away.
   Thiruvadhigai Veerattaneswarar Temple, located in Thiruvathigai only 2 km from PANRUTI, is an   ancient Shiva temple where the saints Thirunavukkarasar, Thilakavathiyar, and Arunagirinathar visited   and wrote hymns. It is an ancient temple located at bank of river Kedilam.
  Selva Vinayagar temple,  Kannika parameshwari temple, Aranganathar temple, Saranarayanar temple, Sayana Narasimhar, Bhagavan Sri Dhanvanthiri temple, Varadharaja temple, Venugopalasamy temple, Kaaliyamman temple, Padaiveetamman temple and so many small temples are  famous in PANRUTI.

 The Thiruvaheendapuram-Devanatha perumal temple, one among the 108 dhivyadesam, is 15 kilometers away from PANRUTI.
  
  The Lakshmi Narayana temple is located in Lakshmi Narayana Puram, 2 km from PANRUTI.The Parikkal, Poovarasankuppam, Singirikudi(Abizhegapakkam), Lakshmi Narasimhar temple are very  near to PANRUTI.
